This section is meant as an aid for the customers, that already has InterFormNG2 running on the IBM i platform, but want to move core InterFormNG2 onto another platform.
The reasons for doing that can e.g. be:
•Free up resources on the IBM i and move the workload onto another machine.
•You are running an OS400 version which is prior to V7R4 (on which Java 17 cannot be installed) and you want to run version 3.5.0 or higher of InterFormNG2, which does require Java 17.
•You want to use Windows printer drivers in InterFormNG2 in order to print on printers, that are neither PCL nor ZPL compatible.
•You want to other functionality, which is not available on the IBM i platform.
Before you go ahead with the move you should consider the differences caused by the fact, that it is a different platform and the dependencies between InterFormNG2 and the infrastructure.
Specific topics to notice (apart from a normal export and import) are:
•Encrypted passwords in InterFormNG2 are encrypted to the current machine. After importing on the new machine you will need to re-enter all encrypted passwords.
•You should read the section, Connecting to AS400 from another platform to be sure that you make the necessary changes to both machines.
•If you run the workflow component, Execute Native OS command, then you will need to make major changes in order to be able to call a program on the IBM i.
•References to folders in the IFS needs to be changed. It can e.g. be considered to map a network drive or ensure a Netserver connection to the IBM i for the Windows user, that is running the InterFormNG2 service.
