InterFormNG Manual 2020

The recommended mime types in InterFormNG are Direct Protocol, PCL and ZPL. If you select any of these print data streams, then you will get top printing performance and top quality of the output including e.g. in the barcodes. In short driver print is using the local printer driver to create the print data stream, so the result depends on the quality and performance of the printer driver, that is used.

There are however printers, that do not support any of the recommended mime types and for those you can consider Driver print as an alternative.

These are the things you consider before moving on with driver print as the mime type:

Prerequisites

You need to have a 'real' printer driver. It must be able to print a PDF file on the printer in question.

The only connection type supported for driver print is System / OS printer. This is described here: System / OS printer.

If you want to use driver print, you can define a printer with this mime type or set the mime type during processing e.g. in the workflow or template with this meta data key:

interformng.mimeType

Set this to the value, Driverprint if you want to print via the local printer driver without defining a printer like described above.

Tray selection

Only the tray selected on the printer driver can be used. You will need to install one printer for each tray, that you can to use. If you also want to combine tray selection with e.g. simplex/duplex, then you need to install a printer for each combination. Please notice, that the license code for InterFormNG is highly likely limited to a specific number of printers and each new printer definition in InterFormNG  is counted as a printer in this limited number (even though it might be the same physical printer with a different tray selection).
