For automatic merges of spooled files with overlays (or with overlay selectors), you can also set the codepage for the output queue monitored by Auto Forms Control (AFC).
The codepage is set on the header for the complete output queue:

Above the codepage 1141 (german with the euro sign) is selected unless an input spooled file has another codepage set in its attributes - as we have specified *SPLFATR (Spooled file attribute). With *ALWAYS instead of *SPLFATR the codepage is set fixed tro 1141 no matter what the codepage of the input spooled file is set to.
A unicode option for merges can be activated specifically on each of the merge functions.
A DBCS codepage can be setup via F10=Additional parameters on the screen above.
