PJL: Initial PJL commands

Scroll Prev Top Next More

It is possible to define your own PJL commands, that are to be inserted as the very first data in the merged PCL spooled file either via 1=Merge spooled file with overlay in Auto Forms Control or via the merge command, APF3812/APF3812.

A prerequisite for these commands is, that you use one of the PJL printer types for the merge.

These initial PJL commands cannot be combined with stapling. However the user defined PJL commands are defined in the same manner - for both stapling and initial PJL commands.

The PJL commands can e.g. be used for:

1.Insert an account for internal invoicing for print usage.

2.Insert a user and password to enable color printing.

3.Insert user and password for secure print, so the print data stream is kept in the printer memory/disk for a manual print request on the printer display/menu.

4.To select a specific output bin. The equivalent PCL command is unfortunately not supported on all printers.

5.To insert a dynamic PJL sequence with variables, that are setup via a program.

To find out exactly which PJL command sequence that is needed for your printers you can:

1.Refer to documentation provided by the printer manufacturer.

2.You can also select the desired output in a provided windows driver and print the result to a file. Then you can open the file and read the PJL sequence as it is normal ascii text.

The user defined PJL commands are defined exactly as for stapling.
