Black/white TIF Images for PCL/PDF output can be imported from the IFS directory /APF3812Home/Work on the System i.
The following TIF image standards are supported directly for sharp black and white images (no grey):
•TIFF format Rev. 4.0 non-compressed or with data compression Scheme-2.
•TIFF Huffman Compressed
•TIFF format CCITT T.6 (fax group 4)
•MOD:CA including black and white image tags (If the MOD:CA file includes more images only the first image will be used)
•LZW compression
•Color and grey images (are converted into black/white during install via the TOOLSHED jobs, so the Auto_form subsystem must be started).
Alternatively you can consider to use a color image, and use a color or grey printer type for the merge - even if the printer is a black/white printer.
If you want to include dynamic images from hundreds or thousands of files, consider using the &&IMG option.
You can work with the images via these menu options:

Select the TIFF file you want to read into InterForm400® and specify the member into which you want to add the image, and which is referred to in an overlay definition. If you select an image with grey tones you will see a screen like this:
Read B/W image from the /APF3812Home/Work directory IMG375D

InterForm400 will show you the size of the image in dots as width and height above.
When you insert the image in either the green screen designer or the graphical designer, you can scale the image in steps by setting a resolution. If you need to scale the image more you should consider to either scale the image before install or to use a color image instead as color images can be scaled freely.
As an example the image above with a size of 342 x 342 dots can be output in these sizes:
Resolution in designer |
Size in inches |
Size in cm. |

342/75=4.56 |

You can use the TIFTOMBR command to import multiple TIFF files from e.g. a folder within qdls.
