Output spooled files

Scroll Prev Top Next More

The merged output spooled files from InterForm400 contains the actual printer commands inside, and have the type: *USERASCII.

That means, that the printed result is not affected by Host Print Transform settings on the output queue and/or printer device used.

Host Print Transform should be enabled on the output/printer device, but the actual Manufacturer type and model (MFRTYPMDL) specified has no effect.

Output spooled files will be owned by the same user profile as the original input spooled file, that was used for the InterForm400 function, if run via Auto Forms Control.

One way to change the owner of the spooled file is to create a copy of a spooled file in Auto Forms Control, and here you can specify a new owner.

It is not possible to view the contents of a merged spooled file unless you use the APFWRKOUTQ or APFWRKSPLF commands, that can display the contents with Swiftview.

In general the merged spooled files from InterForm400 are very small and effective, so print performance is much better than e.g. a print solution based on standard Windows printer drivers.

InterForm400 is using macros and reuse contents in the spooled file, so generally it is e.g. much faster to print a 100 page spooled file, than it is to print 100 spooled files, that each only contains a single page.

Drawer selection, output bin selection, OMR etc. is covered here.
