In the Excel designer you can choose to design the complete excel file from scratch, but you can also choose to combine the Excel output from InterFormNG2 with a predefined Excel file (.xlsx).

This can be e.g. used, if you want to use advanced functions like pivot tables or charts. You can also use this to add an image in any fixed position and size independently of the Excel template. Here you can predefine an excel file, that expects the variable data in special cells or even in another sheet inside the Excel file to present the variable data from the Excel designer in any way you please.

An Excel template file is a normal excel file, that you e.g. can create with MS Excel. In order to make this excel file available as a resource in InterFormNG2, then you should upload the excel file into the Others Library of InterFormNG2.

The Excel output from the InterFormNG2 Excel template is put into the Excel template file with these rules:

The Excel template file is not changed. InterFormNG2 will just take a copy of this file and use that as the layout for the new file.

The sheet names are matched. That means, that the sheet name used is matched with the sheet name in the Excel template file. If there is a match, then the data from the sheet in the new Excel file (generated by InterFormNG2) will be added into the existing sheet of the Excel template file. If there are data in the relevant cells, then they will be overwritten.

If there is no match when comparing the sheet names of the Excel template file and the output from the InterFormNG2 Excel template, then the sheets from the InterFormNG2 output will be added to the final Excel output.

The excel template file can be referenced in the workflow component, Create Excel document.
