You can do 3 types of duplex/simplex printing with InterForm400 in PCL output:
1.Normal duplex, where both back and front of the paper is used. This can e.g. be used simply for saving paper. This kind of duplex cannot be combined with copy management. The output is unpredictable if you try.
2.Another kind of duplex is the ability to add a fixed back page e.g. with some fixed terms & conditions or similar. This can also be combined with copy management. Back page overlays are only used for PCL output, so if you want the back pages included in the PDF result, then you need to consider an alternative.
3.Simple, normal simplex printing (duplex disabled - this is default) - only printing on one side of the paper, which of course can also be combined with copy management.
For each of the two duplex options, there are multiple variations and you can even combine the three within the same, merged spooled file. The duplex option is set on the overlays, so if you use an overlay selector, you can select different overlays through the spooled file and thereby different duplex options.
For both duplex options you can add a duplex margin. This will reposition the contents of the overlay to make more room if you e.g. want to use the output in a booklet.
Apart from setting up duplex (either normal duplex or a duplex back page) on the overlay(s) used for the merge, you also need to select a duplex printer type. If you select a simplex printer type the merged spooled file will be printed in simplex (non-duplex) even if the overlay has duplex enabled.
