It is possible to preview the merged result of a merge between an overlay (or overlay selector) and a spooled file in multiple ways:
1.You can preview from the graphical designer.
2.You can preview from the green screen designer with F13 and F14. Notice the relevant preview setting on the user configuration.
3.You preview a merged spooled file from both commands: APF3812/APFWRKOUTQ and APF3812/APFWRKSPLF with option 5=Display.
4.You can do a merge with the command, APF3812/MRGSPLFPDF and select OUTTYPE(*VIEW) to view the merged result in an interactive job.
The preview file is created in the IFS inside /APF3812Home/View and will be named the same as the user requesting the preview. The extension of the file depends on what kind of preview, that was requested.
The preview types are:
1.Preview the merged result as a PDF file from the APF3812/MRGSPLFPDF command. This will open up the resulting PDF file in the application on your PC, that is associated with the .pdf extension e.g. Acrobat Reader if installed.
2.Preview the merged result as a PCL file. This makes use of Swiftview, which must be installed on the PC. Please notice the limited user license for Swiftview.
3.Preview the merged result as a ZPL file. This will show you the merged ZPL result. The quality and speed of the preview depends on, if a ZPL preview printer is configured or not.
4.Preview the merged result as a IDP (Intermec Direct Protocol) file. This will show you the merged IDP result, if an IDP preview printer has been configured in the InterForm400 configuration.
